Nanshan Base, located at the northern foot of Tianshan Mountain in the center of Eurasian Continent, is 2080 m above the sea level and over 70 km away from Urumqi city. The base, with the dry climate and low radio frequency interference, is one of the five major astronomical observing bases in China. Since the launch of the Phase II construction, it has expanded its land occupation by 8 times and introduced a number of new observation equipments.
