Muztagh Station is located on the Pamirs Plateau at an altitude of 4526m, southwest of Xinjiang. The cold and dry highland climate together with a sparse population far away from the city make the Pamirs Plateau as one of the most preferred place for carrying out site selection for optical astronomy. Analysis based on the monitoring data, which has been collected by site testing group from XAO over several years since 2017, showed that the performance of key astronomical environment parameters at the site is comparable with that at other world-class optical astronomical sites.
